Berlin Airports has today received planning permission for the passenger terminal of the future Capital Airport Berlin Brandenburg International BBI.
A building application of some 21 files was submitted on 30 June 2006 to the lower building supervisory board of the district of Dahme-Spreewald. The inspection and permission process focused on the fire protection analysis, architectural plans, building services, baggage conveyor system and drainage.
Airport Director Thomas Weyer was pleased about the planning permission: "We are delighted that the authorities have worked so efficiently and constructively. The terminal is BBI's biggest and most important sub-project. We will now take the next steps in preparing for the construction of the terminal. Starting in May 2008, construction work on the terminal will begin as scheduled."
